Subject #8 From Doctor G’s
Doctoral Research Project

Recently,  there has been an abundance of articles on the internet reporting a French team’s study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine on the phenomena known as female ejaculation.  I am writing this article because the topic is a matter of huge public interest to women and their partners.Their conclusion was “that squirting (female ejaculation) is essentially the involuntary emission of urine during sexual activity, although a marginal contribution of prostatic secretions to the emitted fluid often exists.” Based on my research, I agree with their conclusion that the bulk of the fluid from women who are “gushers” (expel large amounts of fluid) travels through the bladder and the urethra, but I do not believed that it is correct to categorize that fluid as urine.  As usual, I was also not thrilled with the sensationalistic way the French study has been reported in the popular media. The question of female ejaculation is a major area of interest for me because my doctoral research project was a landmark study of female ejaculation and the question of where the fluid originated.   Before my study, the assumption had been that Female Ejaculate originated either in the bladder or from the Female Prostate (aka Skene’s glands, paraurethral glands, etc.) In my study, by stimulating, then catheterizing seven women and draining the bladder completely and then resuming stimulation with the catheter in place, the bladder could be isolated from the urethra so that it could be reliably determined which fluids came from which area. The fluids obtained were then analyzed for their individual composition, having lessened the possibility that they had been mixed in the urethra. The primary conclusion from my experiment was that almost all the fluid expelled from these seven women came from the women’s bladders. Even though their bladders had been drained, they still expelled from 50 ml to 900 ml of fluid through the tube and into the catheter bag.  On four occasions the research team saw evidence of milky-white, mucous-like emissions from the urethra outside of the catheter tube. In my study, in all cases, the urea and creatinine levels, which could affect smell and taste of the fluid expelled, were substantially lower after the draining of the bladder than the levels for the same components in the baseline urine specimen by an average of 72% for urea and 76% for creatinine. A reasonable conclusion would be that the fluid came from a combination of residual moisture in the walls of the bladder and from post draining kidney output. A review of previous literature also leads to an inference that it is possible that the expelled fluid is an altered form of urine and that there may be a chemical process that goes on during sexual stimulation and excitement that changes the smell and taste of urine. My study also indicated the possibility that, in some women, there may also be an emission from the Female Prostate. On four occasions (see video clip) my research team saw evidence of milky-white, mucous-like emissions from the urethra outside of the catheter tube. My research team was only able to capture a small portion of the fluid for laboratory analysis. The previous literature indicated the possibility of such an emission from the urethral glands and ducts. This was confirmed by results from five of the seven women in the French study. So what does this all mean?  In the stories about the French female ejaculation study, the term “pee” or “pissing” is often used to explain female ejaculation in a way that has a negative connotation. After all. what is urine? According to Merriam-Webster, urine is “waste material that is secreted by the kidney, is rich in end products (as urea, uric acid, and creatinine) of protein metabolism together with salts and pigments, and forms a clear amber and usually slightly acid fluid.” Under that definition, I would question whether even the ejaculate that came from previously drained bladders qualifies as urine. The current debate will not settle this or other issues related to female ejaculation.  Things will quiet down for a while until another study comes along and then there will be a flood of popular stories reporting it, because female ejaculation is still a matter of huge public interest to women and their partners. Female ejaculation is clearly a very pleasurable, involuntary activity that results from a very high state of arousal and involves a fluid without offensive  odor or taste and without the normal chemical composition of urine. The crucial issue is not where the fluid originates or the composition of the female ejaculate but, instead, a far more fundamental and human question, how do women feel about their bodies and everything that comes from them? Do we really want to discourage women from pursuing this pleasure by attaching pejorative terms to it?  I think not.

Christina’s Dream

by DoctorG on February 6, 2015

It has been my experience in life that sometimes I take valuable things for granted by assuming they will always be there and then miss them horribly when they are gone.  Such is the case this year with Ocean Song Ministries. Since 1997, Christina Coffman and Ocean Song Ministries have been offering Sacred Journeys into the Deep Blue of Mother Maui. They sing and tone to the ancient Humpback Whales, swim in the sacred waters of Mother Ocean and experience the blessed presence of Whales and Dolphins.  Their heart’s desire is to share musical frequencies through instruments and voices with the whales and dolphins. . .sharing our hearts and prayers with them and each other. . and having a DEEP and PROFOUND HEALING experience in our lives!!! It is a transformational experience joyfully experience by thousands of people over the years not to be missed. (see comments)

This year Christina has not yet been able to been able to lease a boat for the season and I am acutely aware that something special is missing from my life.  Over the last few years Christina has rented a series of boats for the season but none of them were designed for Ocean Song Ministries and its needs. What they really need is an environmentally friendly boat designed for their needs.  Of course acquisition will cost money, perhaps as much as $750,000 to purchase a brand new, eco-friendly catamaran.  Overall, resources are tight but there are progressive philanthropic organizations that fund important missions of non profit groups such as Ocean Song Ministries.  Education and first hand contact with the whales are valuable for both the humans and the whales, as it raises public consciousness and awareness  of the beauty and the whales place in the order of life.  To me, this is a dream worth supporting.

An Explanation of Bisexuality

by DoctorG on December 11, 2014

I really like this video.  I love his enthusiasm and agree with his point that the labels of gay, straight and bi are too restrictive and do not adequately describe someone’s sexual orientation and/or sexual conduct.  I would only add that sexual orientation can include who we romanticize, as well as who we eroticize.

I recommend Dual Attraction: Understanding Bisexuality by Martin S. Weinberg for a  more detailed study of this issue. – Doctor G

I remember after I graduated from The Institute For the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, Betty Dodson’s Alma mater, I was trying to come up with a better term for the so called. “G Spot”, which is not anatomically correct but was a brilliant marketing term for the famous book by that name.

Betty said to me, “The G Spot is the fucking prostate” and after all is said and done, she was right. – Doctor G

New Research: Does Chelation Therapy Heal Hearts?

February 8, 2014

I am not certain that the actual JAMA article (JAMA Network | JAMA | Effect of Disodium EDTA Chelation Regimen on Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Previous Myocardial Infarction:  The TACT Randomized Trial) actually supports this conclusion.  I would like it to be so but more research needs to be done with less resistance and […]

Paul Ryan’s Plan for Medicare: A Disaster for Seniors

November 30, 2013

It is amazing to me that no one has yet realized that no insurance company or group of insurance companies has any interest in being the primary insurer for seniors.  The risk is too unpredictable and the costs of such a risk pool could never be covered by a $5,000 voucher.  It is impossible to […]

Could Israel have been located in Baja California?

March 14, 2013

by Gary Schubach, Ed.D. I recently came into possession of several letters, written in 1938, to my grandfather, Rabbi Joseph Jasin (1883-1968), by a group called NAI Judah, whose objective was “to unite the Jews of the world into one movement; to secure an undisputed territory for a sovereign Jewish State.”  These letters indicate a […]

The Many Faces of Little Beach

March 11, 2013

The Little Beach controversy has grown. A tiny secluded beach on Maui’s South Coast, between posh Wailea and undeveloped Makena has become the “eye” of a cultural storm about the custom of “clothing optional” dress for its visitors. Little Beach has been known for a decade or more as a place where those who choose […]

Church suspected of being brothel deciding if ‘religion’ will be used as a defense

Vaginal Orgasms Not a Myth

May 1, 2012

I agree with the article below that women should educate themselves about sexuality and what pleasures them or not.  However, I disagree with the conclusion that vaginal orgasms are a myth.  Most sexologists now accept at least clitoral, vaginal and “blended” orgasms.  I agree with Grafenberg that, “Innumerable erotogenic spots are distributed all over the […]

New Study Confirms Doctor G’s Conclusions About Female Ejaculation

April 9, 2012

In the past, the assumption has been that female urethral expulsions during sensual and/or sexual activity (aka “female ejaculation”) originated either in the bladder or from the urethral glands and ducts.  A new study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine confirms the conclusions of my doctoral research project that both may be the case.  In […]
