Bliss
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
Bliss could be one of the greatest marriage-boosters
ever filmed. This curious drama fits into the too-familiar form
of the "therapy movie," but it's acted with intensity
by a committed (and rather brave) trio. Craig Sheffer plays an
uptight Seattle husband who discovers his neurotic wife (Sheryl
Lee) visiting a radical doctor (Terence Stamp) who has sex--therapeutically--with
his patients. After briefly flipping out, Sheffer finds himself
buying into the doctor's remedies for a sexual and emotional
make-over. The silky-smooth Stamp is perfectly cast: with his
enthusiasm for chakras and fine cigars, the doctor is both spiritual
guru and the kind of man who reads Playboy. The film veers into
ridiculousness at times, yet there is something intriguing about
its how-to frankness. Home viewers may find themselves embarrassed
and maybe just a little bit liberated. --Robert Horton

Henry
and June
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
Anaïs Nin (Maria de Medeiros) is a young
woman in 1930s Paris whose husband is slowly defecting from
art to working in a bank, leaving her very bored. When the
then-unpublished Brooklyn writer Henry Miller (Fred Ward) enters
her life, she embarks on a journey of seduction and sexual
exploration that eventually leads from the writer to his wife,
June (Uma Thurman), who finances her husband's life in Paris
so he may praise her beauty in his writing. Unhappy with her
husband's writing and her lovers' affair, June enters a jealous
rage, forcing Henry into suffering-artist mode and Nin back
to her husband. Despite having one of the more erotic scenes
of the 1990s, between Nin and June, the film does not live
up to its subject, largely due to a mediocre screenplay and
flawed direction. The strength of the original material and
Medeiros's decidedly unflawed performance, however, make it
worth viewing. --James McGrath

The Crying Game
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com essential video
The Crying Game offers a rare and precious movie experience. The
film is an unclassifiable original that surprises, intrigues, confounds,
and delights you with its freshness, humor, and honesty from beginning
to end. It starts as a psychological thriller, as IRA foot soldier
Fergus (the incomparable Stephen Rea) kidnaps a British soldier (Forest
Whitaker) and waits for the news that will determine whether he executes
his victim or sets him free. As the night wears on, a peculiar bond
begins to form between the two men. Later, the movie shifts tone
and morphs into something of a romantic comedy as Fergus unexpectedly
becomes involved with the soldier's girlfriend Dil (Jaye Davidson)
and discovers more about himself, and human nature in general, than
he ever dreamed possible. Like Spielberg's E.T., The Crying Game
was supposed to be director Neil Jordan's "little, personal
movie," the one he just had to make, even though no studio was
willing to give him money because the story was so unusual. Instead,
it became a surprise popular sensation, thanks in part to Miramax's
cleverly provocative campaign playing up the hush-hush nature of
the movie's big secret. The performances (including Miranda Richardson
as one of Fergus's IRA colleagues) are subtly shaded, and the writing
and direction are tantalizingly rich and suggestive; you're always
trying to figure out the characters' true motives and feelings--even
when they themselves are fully aware of their own motives and feelings.
The Crying Game is a wise, witty, wondrous treasure of a movie. Director
Jordan's credits include Mona Lisa, Interview with the Vampire, Michael
Collins, and The Butcher Boy. --Jim Emerson --This text refers to

Dangerous
Beauty
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
Although it was unfortunately ignored during its brief theatrical release,
this sumptuously seductive production is that rarest of cinematic breeds,
the (barely) respectable guilty pleasure. Combining historical fact with
hysterical anachronisms of language and mannerism, it's been tailored for
maximum contemporary appeal but maintains a lush, romantic feel for its
factual 16th-century tale of Venetian love, lust, and political repression.
Catherine McCormack (Mel Gibson's ill-fated bride in Braveheart) delivers
a star-making performance as the "dangerous beauty" who becomes
a skillful courtesan to pursue her forbidden love for a dashing Venetian
senator (Rufus Sewell). It's all rather silly in a high-toned fashion,
and the film turns dour when the church intervenes with a Scarlet Letter-like
papal inquest. But the movie's joyously ribald vitality is utterly irresistible,
and the casting of McCormack with Jaqueline Bisset (as her mother and courtesan
mentor) is a stroke of pure genius. Merchant-Ivory would've made a smarter
film from this material, but it probably wouldn't be nearly as entertaining.

Don
Juan DeMarco
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
It's a quirky romantic comedy about a mental patient (Johnny Depp) who
claims to be Don Juan, the world's greatest lover, and he gets quite a
few women to believe it's true. Brando plays the psychiatrist who tries
to analyze his patient's apparent delusion, and Dunaway plays Brando's
wife, who wants to inject some Don Juan-ish romance into their marital
routine. Walking a fine line between precious comedy, wistful drama, and
delicate fantasy, the movie gets a big dose of charm from its esteemed
cast, with Depp delivering dialogue that would have sounded ludicrous from
a lesser actor. This may not be a great movie, but it is guaranteed to
put you in an amorous mood. --Jeff Shannon

The
Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
essential video
This warm romantic comedy by newcomer Maria Maggenti is a gay coming-of-age
story framed by Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Randy (Laurel Hillman) is
a stoner, lesbian teenager who happens to be failing math and dating a married
woman. One day, fellow student Evie (Nicole Parker) drives up to Randy's
gas station in a Range Rover and flips her world upside down. Evie is privileged
and popular. Randy is poor, impulsive, and according to the other students,
a freak. Opposites attract when the two girls kick off their friendship in
detention. The flirtation blossoms after Evie introduces tomboyish Randy
to the joys of Whitman and opera. Randy returns the favor by acquainting
the sheltered Evie with the problems and delights of mature, taboo love.
There is a beautiful scene where the two consummate their courtship on Evie's
birthday while Mom is out of town. The true test of their relationship occurs
during the hilarious climax when angry families and friends chase the troubled
girls into hiding. --Margaret Griffis

Model and subsequent Mickey Rourke squeeze Carré Otis plays a brilliant
young attorney--well, we're told she's brilliant, although watching her
in action, straining to wrap those puffy lips around her legalese dialogue,
definitely conjures up other adjectives. She's dispatched to Rio de Janeiro
under the guise of real-estate law and ends up seduced both by the exotic
culture and by a brooding, highly misunderstood and frighteningly orange-skinned
multimillionaire (Rourke). Kinky (for the time) sex games and deliriously
mannered dialogue make this a rather pretentious exercise, unleavened by
any truly erotic sensuality. Fun for taunting purposes, though. --David

Sutra of Sexual Positions Video: A Tantric Vision of Love

From
the Actor
If you are looking for titillating porn, please do not buy this video and
write an inane review on Amazon. In this instructional montage, we integrate
rather than segregate sexual passion from the wholeness of life. Sexual positions
books and videos are a dime a dozen. So I had nothing to lose to make this
a very different, multicultural, multiracial, artistic vision of sex, both
the technique and the archetype.
About the Actor
Kenneth Ray Stubbs, Ph.D., a certified sex educator, is the author of eight
books and three videos on sensuality, sexuality, and intimacy, based on
teaching seminars throughout Europe and North America for almost two decades.
Description
Based on the book by the same title, KAMA SUTRA of SEXUAL POSITIONS Video
is instructional, sensual, artistic, and exotic. Not one-dimensional porn.
Not boring sex education. This video is very different. Here the best sexual
positions from Kama Sutra, Ananga-Ranga, The Perfumed Garden, and Ishimpo
reveal the beauty and the passion of the Ancient Lover. A live couple demonstrates
the positions while accompanied by an East Indian dancer with musicians
and African dancers with drummers. Together they orchestrate a tantric
vision of love.

The G Spot : And Other Discoveries About Human Sexuality
by Beverly
Whipple (Author), John D. Perry (Author), Alice Kahn Ladas (Author)
The G Spot finally laid to rest the old argument about whether
the vagina or the clitoris is more important. They both are. The
question I am most often asked is, "Does everyone have a G
Spot?" Yes,
all women and men do. It is prostatic tissue which, in the female,
surrounds the urethra and can be stimulated from inside the front
wall of the vagina or from above the pubic bone. In men, it can
be stimulated between the scrotum and the rectum or from inside
the
anus. Not everyone is aroused by G Spot stimulation nor need they
be. The same thing is true of female ejaculation. Not every woman
ejaculates. But for those who do, it is important for them and
their partners to know that this is normal and not urination. The
third
subject is the importance of the pelvic muscles. Like any other
muscle in the body, pelvic muscles may be chronically contracted
or too
weak, especially after childbirth. Keeping the pelvic muscles in
good shape, knowing where they are and how to use them, is important
for the health and pleasure of both men and women. The fourth subject
concerns the different types of climax or orgasm which people experience.
Finally, people have different pathways to pleasure. Enjoy what
you experience and don't worry about what others do. Incidentally,
The
G Spot was named after Grafenberg, a caring obstetrician/gynecologist
who was the first to write about it in modern medical literature.
The G Spot contains important information. How to use that information
in the service of loving relationships is the subject of another
book in progress, Beyond the G Spot. -

Shekhina
by Leonard Nimoy (Photographer), Donald B. Kuspit
Book Description
Shekhina presents the first-ever monograph of Leonard Nimoy, photographer.
This exhaustive and eerily beautiful photographic study of the
female form reveals Nimoy's intrigue with scriptural mythology
and ancient spirituality. According to the Kabbalah, evil came
into the world once God became separate from the "Shekhina," the
deity's feminine counterpart. The Shekhina came to be understood
as a crucial element of both divine and human spirit, symbolizing
the creativity and wisdom without which no human being is complete.
Renowned actor and director Leonard Nimoy has turned to photography
as a means of inquiry into the mysteries of the Shekhina. In his
introductory text, Nimoy elaborates on the influence Shekhina has
had on the work: "I have imagined her as ubiquitous, watchful
and often in motion...This work is my quest for insight, the exploration
of my own spirituality, and, as such, has been a deeply moving
and expanding process." Shekhina Limited Edition with a print,
signed and numbered by the photographer and limited to 75 copies,

Secret
Sexual Positions: Ancient Techniques for Modern Lovers
Editorial
Reviews
Amazon.com
"Sex is good. Sex is holy. Celebrate it!" begins Secret Sexual Positions:
Ancient Techniques for Modern Lovers. This book of more than 100 erotic illustrations
celebrates and reveres sex, drawing from eroticism of the art and literature
of many cultures across the centuries.
You know this isn't an ordinary sex guidebook when "A Word of Caution" at
the beginning includes, "Some of the positions were accomplished only
after years of yogic practice... Please don't get stuck in a position you
can't get out of." And indeed, a few of the splendidly illustrated
positions demand a degree of strength and flexibility we may find only
in our fantasies. Picture a man and women engaged in mutual oral sex, the
man sitting back comfortably with legs extended, the woman in a backbend
over him, her legs straddling his chest, her arms straddling his thighs,
face tucked into his groin. How long could you hold that, if you could
get into it in the first place? A few acrobatic positions aside, most of
the positions are enticing and, shall we say, accessible.
Talented illustrator Kyle Spencer is the star of this show. Her illustrations
reflect four distinctly different artistic styles: realistic drawings of
modern lovers, line drawings reminiscent of ancient Asian and Indian erotic
art, illustrations from Indian temple sculptures, and classic Japanese
erotic art. Unless you read the introduction, you won't guess that such
varied illustrations are all by the same artist.
The text is snippets of the history of sexuality through the ages, with
biographical notes from the author. Who would have guessed from his quick
and inept first sexual experience at age 20 (in a bathroom at the camp
where he and his companion were counselors) that he would become a sexologist
and massage therapist? Quotes from modern lovers accompany each illustration.
Although all the illustrations show male-female partners, the author points
out (and the quotes support) that same-gender couples can enjoy most of
these positions as well. --Joan Price
Book Description
More than 100 erotic illustrations grace this step-by-step guide to the
ancient secrets of sexual pleasure.
This new, lavishly illustrated guidebook by the bestselling author of Erotic
Massage takes readers on a unique tour of sexual practices throughout the
ages.
Drawing on a rich variety of cultures and eras, Secret Sexual Positions
provides the methods that can open us to forgotten or undiscovered sensations
and feelings, leading to a more profound and pleasurable sexuality.
The book's magnificent illustrations depict the lovemaking of both ancient
and modern lovers, and invite the reader to experience a new dimension
of bodily and mental pleasure. Using sexual wisdom from sources as diverse
as the Kama Sutra, the Song of Songs, and the Ishimpo, Secret Sexual Positions
provides an unprecedented journey through the sexuality of the ages--all
made easy and available to the couples of today.

Heavenly
Sex: Sexuality in the Jewish Tradition
by Ruth K.
Westheimer, Jonathan Mark (Editor)
Editorial
Reviews
From Library
Journal
Arousing. Sexy. Seductive. You're talking about Judaism? Yup, or so says
world-renowned sex educator Dr. Ruth Westheimer. Though many might find the
statement above hard to believe, Westheimer contends that the religion celebrates
human sexuality. Even the holiest of men are required to marry and, as Dr.
Ruth so skillfully reminds us, "Celibacy is not a virtue. Orgasms are." The
authors interpret various stories and help readers understand the significance
of each. The book concludes with a handy biblical glossary and an annotated
listing of legal codifications in Jewish law. Mark is associate editor of
Jewish Week. Rotenberg's offering, which reads partly like a scholarly lecture
and partly like a doctoral thesis, covers many of the subjects discussed
in Heavenly Sex), only in greater depth. This shouldn't come as a surprise
because Rotenberg has spent many years researching the impact of religion
on the psychology of everyday life. The Dr. Ruth book is an enjoyable read
that is essential for all libraries or certainly those serving a Jewish readership.
Rotenberg should be considered only if a more scholarly work is required
on the subject.

From Booklist
America's favorite sex therapist, probably best known for making the word
orgasm a TV talk show favorite, collaborates with Jewish Week editor Mark
in a more significant accomplishment--a thoughtful study of the role of sexuality
in Judaica. The two use an array of sources for their inquiries and discussions:
interpretations of the Talmud, such customs as the ritual bath, and the Bible's
commandments are the principal ones. Particularly interesting is the reading

ONE
OF THE MOST BRILLIANT BOOKS I'VE READ; A MUST
HAVE!, October 27, 2002
Reviewer: Dolphin from Montréal, Canada
As I say in the title, this is one of the best books I've read. It redefines
the word "slut" and gives it a whole new meaning. The authors
have both been living free lives for many years and have experience in
the area. These women rock! They are two of the most free people (on that
level at least) I know. This book can be very hepfull for couples who want
to have an open relationship but are not sure on how to set rules to make
everybody happy. It helps you define the boudaries of your couple and of
your sexuality. It explains things like how we own our feelings and how
to deal with them, but also things like how to reassure a partner who feels
insecure if we go out on a date with somebody else, and so many other things.
There is also a chart of do's and don't's of ethical sluttery and a (sarcastic)
chart of things to do if you want to [mess] up your couple. There is even
some advice that I consider as good for open couples than for straight
couples. This book has changed my life, and I think everybody should read
it!

Basically about stripping your own inhibitions, April 3, 2003
Reviewer: TammyJo Eckhart (see more about me) from Bloomington, Indiana
United States
Carol Queen is now a famous sex educator who describes herself as a recovering
shy person. In 13 chapters and 3 appendices she helps us understand what
holds us back from exploring and fully enjoying our sexuality and offers
exercises we can use to move into a more fulfilling passionate life with
ourselves and with others. This book will not teach you how to strip or
how to seduce someone until you feel comfortable with yourself first. An
excellent book that offered me some advice I have tried to put into practice
in my own life. I'm getting a little less shy every day and it feels good.

Anal
Pleasure & Health: A Guide for Men and Women
by Jack Morin
Spotlight Review

Getting in touch
with the most taboo-ed body part, October 17, 2001
Reviewer: A reader from London, United Kingdom
This book is indispensible reading for anybody thinking of exploring
anal eroticism in any or all of its forms. Unlike some writers,
Morin spends as much time
focusing on using fingers, tongues and toys as he does on intercourse, and
he emphasizes becoming comfortable with your body and finding out what (if
any) forms of anal stimulation *you* enjoy, rather than making yourself feel
inadequate for failing to meet external "goals".
But the "health" part
of the title shouldn't be ignored - as well as providing invaluable information
on how to make anal
play safe and fun for all concerned, Morin also covers the general
health of this most-maligned area of the body. His guidance on relaxation
and care seems as if it would be useful for anyone with IBS, constipation,
haemorrhoids or any other anal or related problem, and his mission
to remove shame and pain is equally relevant here.
At first, the novice
reader may find themselves getting hopelessly giggly when urged to find out
what their anuses are trying to tell
them. But keep reading - you may find out more than you bargained
for.

A great
handbook for life, July 29, 2003
Reviewer: info200011 from Atlanta, GA United States
I'm not much for self-help books! However, I wish I had found this book years
ago. It is universal, timeless, and a "real" handbook for life.
I want to give a copy to everyone I know. It's about much more than transforming
relationships in the traditional sense. No, it's not another love book or "Women
are from Mars and Men are from Venus" kind of book. It's about our relationship
with ourself and our life as much as it is about our relationship with lovers,
friends, parents, children, or co-workers. Emery in a very simple manner
explains how to make our life and our relationships workable. He highlights
ideas, perceptions, and self images that don't work for us (any of us) and
explains where they came from. He explains the mechanics of it in a way that
makes it easy to execute. This is a very simple book, easy to read, and one
that I will read many times. It will be the first gift I give to anyone I
have a romantic relationship with in the future.

Passionate
Marriage
Editorial
Review
Amazon.com
People joke that the start of a couple's marriage means the end of their
sex life. David Schnarch, a sex therapist praised by Pepper Schwartz, uses
epiphany-laden conversations taken directly from his own marriage and the
married couples he sees in practice to help readers defy the myth that
marriages are necessarily passionless, and instead prove that the longer
a couple has been together, the higher the fireworks can fly. It's especially
aimed at older couples who, Schnarch says, are self-actualized and therefore
better able to handle intimacy than younger partners. "People have
difficulty with intimacy because they're supposed to," he says, and
goes on in this inspiring book to combine elements of marriage therapy
and sex therapy to bring plenty of practical, fresh ideas to the crowd
of mostly vapid relationship books. (Note that despite its title, it's
for any emotionally committed couple, not just married folks.)
Schnarch says that a man is more likely to let a relationship suffer in
order to hold on to his sense of self, while a woman is more apt to let
her identity suffer to help strengthen it. Schnarch gives explicit tips
on how to alter this pattern, an essential step he calls "differentiation." He
also explains why compromise isn't always the best route to take when conflicts
arise. The couples profiled here deal with the usual suspects: uneven sexual
desire and initiation, battles about oral sex, self-image problems, the "boondoggle" of
trust (both of one's self and one's partner), and the specter of divorce.
Instead of focusing on each client's weaknesses, Schnarch teaches how to
find inner strength and resilience that can be used to reaffirm a relationship
and reignite sex. William H. Masters of Masters and Johnson fame calls
this book "a classic," and no wonder. --Erica Jorgensen

The
Viagra Myth : The Surprising Impact On Love And Relationships
by Abraham
Morgentaler
Editorial
Reviews
From Publishers
Weekly
Morgentaler, a practicing urologist and a professor at Harvard Medical
School who has done research on erectile dysfunction, wants to explode
the "notion of Viagra as an automatic solution, as the quick fix to
all sexual problems." He has no problems with the millions of prescriptions
of Viagra that doctors have made since the drug was introduced in 1998.
But he is effective at presenting facts that are not so well known, such
as that the drug works in 80% of men with performance anxiety but only
two-thirds of men with other types of erectile dysfunction. What he does
best, however, is to demonstrate how "a firm erection cannot solve
deeper problems." Each chapter describes a situation in which a patient
who thought that Viagra was the answer to his problems finds that there
are other explanations. In one, a man learns that his performance problems
have to do with the lack of trust he and his partner share; in another,
a man who thinks that Viagra will make his sexual performance last the
right time learns that "studies have shown that humans average only
a minute and a half for their sexual encounters." Short bullet-point
summaries of important information at the end of each chapter and an excellent
section on "Frequently Asked Questions About Viagra" help make
this book an important resource for both physicians and patients who are
contemplating prescribing or using the drug, but who may be doing so for
all the wrong reasons.

" ...an important resource for both physicians and patients who are contemplating
prescribing or using the drug."
Book Description
In The Viagra Myth Dr. Abraham Morgentaler (a practicing urologist on the
faculty of Harvard Medical School) shows us that while Viagra has proved
enormously helpful to many men, it has also uncovered previously ignored
aspects of identity and authenticity in sexuality and relationships.
Some men, for example, may fear telling their partner they are using
Viagra, yet still struggle with the hope of being loved for their true
self. Women who discover their partner has resorted to a secret sexual
enhancer may complain, "I thought it was me who turned you on .
. ." Viagra may improve a man's sexual abilities, but there may
also be a profound cost involved.
If you or your partner is using or considering Viagra, or even if you are
only wondered what it might be like to have a better sex life, this book
is essential reading. It will provide insight and instruction about the
reality of quick-fix solutions, sexuality, personal growth, and meaningful
relationships.

Who Love Sex: An Inquiry into the Expanding Spirit of Women's
Erotic Experience
Editorial
Reviews
The
Journal Of Sex Research
" A masterpiece of affirmation-refreshing, moving, and extraordinarily liberating.
For sexuality professionals, for our students, patients, and clients, for anyone
who loves women, and especially for any woman who loves sex (or wants to love
sex), Women Who Love Sex is the freshest breath of air to come along in years."
Canadian
Journal Of Human Sexuality
" This book is a remarkable contribution to the literature on female sexuality.
Ogden sets out to destroy stereotypes of female sexuality, whether they are found
in pop culture, the world of professional sexology, or in current, politically
correct 'feminist' ideology. She succeeds by situating women's sexual phenomenology
within an appropriate, theoretical context and by substantiating her propositions
with empirical support."
Book Description
This intelligent, readable book reframes conventional ideas about how women
experience sexual relationship. Newly revised and redesigned, it is now
a selection of One Spirit and Quality Paperback Book Clubs. With a foreword
by the authors of Our Bodies Ourselves and an afterword on sexual messages
in the media, this edition is suited for college and graduate classes
as well as a wider readership. Based on original research with women
whose stories inform each chapter, it questions male-centered definitions
of sexual desire and performance. It proposes a new sexual response cycle
that includes nurturing and intimacy along with physical stimulation.
It offers inside views of sex research and therapy. It calls for social
change honoring women's right to sexual pleasure.

Transcendent Sex: When Lovemaking Opens the
Veil
by Jenny
Wade
Editorial Reviews
From
Publishers Weekly
Claiming that lovemaking can be a path to soulful
realization, developmental psychologist Wade explores "one of the
best-kept secrets in human history" in this study of ordinary people’s
spontaneous spiritual awakenings through transcendent sex. Drawing
heavily from the well-articulated, first-hand accounts of nearly
100 respondents (specifically chosen for their lack of any spiritual
framework or ideology to explain the episodes), the author repeatedly
offers historical, religious and cultural traditions as a background,
and context for readers’ understanding of her arguments.
Though not a how-to book per se, Wade’s volume broaches the
myriad shapes mystical sex may take, including animal possession,
time travel, out-of-body experiences, past life regression and
even enlightenment, and it provides warnings on the down side of
altered state sex (dangerous liaisons and overwhelming intimacy)
and suggestions for facilitating transcendent sex. Despite the
fact most of those interviewed had only a one-time experience,
the long-term effects on their lives often proved profound and
healing. Wade’s unique subject matter, and her openness with
the research data, should make this a welcome addition to the spirituality/self-help
genre.

Library Journal, March

The subject of transcendent sex "is an understudied and
unknown area...Highly recommended to collections in religion, spirituality,
and sexuality."
Book Description
IT'S NOT JUST
SEX. IT'S NOT JUST LOVE. IT'S SOMETHING MORE....
But what could
be better than sex? How about lovemaking that sweeps people
into new realities, producing altered states of consciousness
a thousand times more powerful than the most earth-shattering
orgasm? Lovemaking so spectacular that it truly is a religious
experience?
Transcendent
Sex is not about the "Tantric method." It is about
the best-kept secret in human history: that ordinary people,
with no special training, can find themselves in different
spiritual realms when making love -- an experience so profound
that nothing will ever be the same. It is about sex that
triggers episodes identical to the highest spiritual states
-- as described in the annals of shamanism, yoga, Buddhism,
Christianity, Judaism, and Islam -- including visions,
channeling, reliving past lives, transcending the laws
of physics, and seeing the face of God.
This revealing
book tells of lovers who engaged in sex as usual and suddenly
found the veil between the worlds torn open. Transcendent
Sex, like any other spiritual awakening, changes lives.
Atheists have become believers; long-standing psychological
wounds have been healed; and the sexually abused have become
whole. These are the inspiring, incredible true stories of
people who experienced an ecstasy and fulfillment beyond
the borders of this world.

Peace Between the Sheets: Healing With Sexual Relationships
by Marnia
Robinson
Book Description
Based on the author's twelve-year inquiry
into why relationships fail, Peace Between the Sheets offers
a simple but revolutionary analysis: modern relationships often
founder because of dysfunctional sexual habits. But when couples
shift away from "heat-centered" toward "heart-centered" sexual
interactions, they gain a mutual satisfaction that transcends
physical gratification. Robinson advocates teaching the body
a different response to sexual arousal that is driven by love
over biology. The benefits include reducing stress, rejuvenating
the body, helping overcome addictions, and developing a positive
outlook. Over two parts, "Why" and "How," the book devotes twelve
chapters to topics like "Why do We Fall Out of Love?," "Outwitting
Biology," "Want to Try It?," and "The Ecstatic Exchanges." Peace
Between the Sheets tackles a delicate issue with sound reasoning,
solid research, and a healthy dose of humor.

Returning true
intimacy to your relationship, April 23, 2004
Reviewer: Kathryn
Lanier, Author and Editor (Colorado, USA)
Marnia Robinson
has researched the split and tension in modern relationships between
men and women. Her solution-a return to the ancient ways of intimacy.
Rather than devouring each other and leaving each other empty and
feeling a depressing sense of lack, Robinson offers us not just
theory but the how-to of healing with sexual relationships. The
healing is not just physical and mental but spiritual. The final
chapter of Section I, before the how-to of the Ecstatic Exchanges
in Section II, describes
a Divine connection-one which the ancient Taoists and Tibetan Buddhists
have always known. You cannot be selfish and generous at the same
time; you cannot be hungry and nourished at the same time. Therefore,
with the sexual energy transmuted through the heart center to nourish
each other, the flow of abundance in life balances with the life
force and merges us not just with our partners but with the Source
from whence we came.
